Types of prostheses on implants
There are the following types of prostheses that are installed on implants:
• Crowns. They are attached to the implant using abutments (orthopedic adapters that screw into the implant). Standard abutments are used or individual ones are made.
• Bridge prostheses. They are used to restore several teeth. The support for this orthopedic system is 2 or more implants.
• Complete prosthesis. It is used in dental prosthetics on implants, when the tooth row is completely missing. Acrylic is used as a manufacturing material.
Dentures and crowns can be:
• temporary (adaptive). The material for them is metal-plastic
• permanent. They are ceramic, metal-ceramic or made of zirconium dioxide.
IN WHICH CASES IS PERMANENT IMPLANT PROSTHESIS RECOMMENDED?
Most often, fixed prosthetics are used in the following cases:
• With complete absence of teeth (complete adentia)
• With partial loss of teeth, when you have no more than 7-8 teeth left (partial adentia)
• Generalized periodontitis, a disease that leads to partial or complete loss of teeth.
• With long-term use of a removable prosthesis, which leads to disorders of speech, chewing, etc. consequences
• With atrophy of the jaw, which as a disease leads to premature aging of the face.
Despite all the advantages and advantages of implantation, this technique is not suitable for everyone. Main contraindications: oncological diseases; pathologies of blood coagulation; acute infectious diseases, HIV / AIDS, tuberculosis; diabetes mellitus in the stage of decompensation; pregnancy and lactation period; immunodeficiency states, the presence of an allergic reaction to drugs used for local and general anesthesia.
Importantly! The dentist chooses the method of prosthetics after a complete examination of the patient.
